Time: 45 minutes
Aim:
• to learn how to write and act out dialogues;
• to enable pupils to talk about different activities;
• to enable pupils to listen for specific information;
Objectives of the lesson:
• talk about different activities in the past;
• listen for specific information;
• write and act out dialogues.
Skills to be emphasized: listening, reading, writing, speaking.
Materials: Power point presentation, handouts, pictures, pupil’s book
Procedure of the lesson :
Pre-Activities
Activity 1. Lead-in (3 minutes)
Objective: to introduce the unit topic;
Materials: Pupil’s book (page 56;activity 3a)
Procedure: Play the listening track. Ask the pupils to listen to the song and say what this song is about.
Activity 2. Grammar task (7 minutes)
Objective: to transform the words into past simple form.
Materials: Handout (activity 1)
Procedure: Give handouts to pupils and tell them to transform words into past simple form.
While- Activities
Activity 3. Listening to track and matching the dialogues and pictures.(10 minutes)
Objectives: to listen for specific information; to practice speaking;
Materials: Pupil’s book ( page 36; activity 3), handouts, pictures
Procedure: Ask the pupils to look at the pictures carefully and answer your questions. Ask them about the people in the picture, where they are and what they are doing.
Activity 4. Fill the gaps with the past simple. (8 minutes)
Objective: to develop pupils group work skills;
Materials: Handout (activity 2)
Procedure: Give handouts and tell them to complete the sentences by using the words in bracket.
Post-Activities
Activity 5. Read and write your dialogue.(7 minutes)
Objective: to practice writing dialogues
Materials: Pupils` book Page36 (activity 2)
Procedure: Ask the pupils to work in groups. Explain that they must discuss and write a dialogue using the words in the clouds.
Evaluation. Evaluate pupils according to their active participation. (5 minutes)
Home task. Ask the pupils to look at the homework on page 100. Check that everybody understands what to do with the task. If necessary, explain how to do the homework. (5 minutes)
