The aim of the lesson:

Lesson 1 He is my uncle.

The Procedure of the lesson:

2. Pre-Activity

Activity 1 Listen and repeat. 5 min

Objectives: to warm up; to create an English speaking atmosphere.

Say: ‗Stand up, please. Good morning, class.‘ Use gestures so the pupils stand up. Say: ‗How are you?‘ Get the answers from the pupils. Say: ‗Sit down, please.‘ Use gestures so the pupils sit down. Show the pupils the textbook and say: ‗Take out your books.‘ Make sure all the children have their Pupil‘s Book. Say: ‗Open your books on Page 10.‘ Point to Activity

1. Use gestures and wait for all the children to open their textbooks. Check they have the correct page. Say: ‗Listen to the song and repeat.‘ Play the DVD. Ask: ‗What‘s the song about?‘ Accept anything reasonable, etc.

3. Main-Part

Activity 2a Look, listen and repeat. 15 min

Objectives: to introduce the new words: aunt, uncle, cousin, short, tall, strong, old, young; to practise the sound

Say: ‘Look at Activity 2a.’ (Here is a wedding picture. Jasur introduces his family to his friend. He introduces his father‘ s brother: uncle Sherzod.) Point to the picture and show it to the pupils.

Then say: ‗This is Jasur‘s uncle. (Use gestures) He‘s tall and strong.‘ Say what ― uncle‖ , ― tall‖ and ― strong‖ mean in mother tongue. Enable the pupils to say the words ―uncle‖ , ― tall‖ and ― strong‖ , paying special attention to the sound [q]. Then ask: ‗Who has got uncles?‘ Elicit answers. ‗Is he tall?‘ Elicit answers. ‗Is he strong?‘ Elicit answers. Say: ‗OK.

Excellent.‘ Then point to the woman and show the picture to the pupils.
Activity 2b Complete the sentences with his or her. 5 min Objective: to consolidate the possessive pronouns ― his‖ and ―her‖. Answer keys:

I have got a dad. His name is Anvar. I have got a mum. Her name is Sevara. I have got an uncle. His name is Izzat. I have got an aunt. Her name is Indira. They live in Fergana. I have got two cousins. Their names are Oybek and Yasmina.

Activity 2c Play ―My uncle‘s tall‖ . 5 min

Objective: to consolidate the new words: aunt, uncle, cousin, tall, strong, short, young, old.

This is a usual ―Chain Drill‖ activity. Introduce the new material: My uncle‘s tall. Practise this with one pupil. Say: ‗My uncle‘s tall.‘ Have the pupil answer for him/herself: ‗My uncle‘s strong.

4. Post-activity

Activity 3a Read and write. 5 min

Objective: to consolidate the pronouns: he, she

Say: ‗Read and write.‘ Use gestures to show what to do. Go round the class and see how well the pupils write. Help if necessary. Write on the board: mother - she, father - he.

Activity 3b Play ― Fly Swat‖ . 5 min

Objective: to consolidate the personal pronouns: he, she

Divide the class into 2 teams. Put the flashcards with the words “He” and “She” on the board.

Developing: - to enable pupils to use the comparative degree of adjectives Socio-cultural: to raise awareness of the ways of comparing two things Competence: SC5, SC and PC in saying relatives‘ age

Learning outcomes: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: use the comparative degree of adjectives; use the comparative conjunction ―than‖.
