  Israel defeats Egypt, Syria, and Jordan in the 

Six-Day War.

  Colonel Muammar Qadhdhafi overthrows King 

Idris of Libya and establishes Libyan Arab 

Republic.

  Organization of the Islamic Conference 

founded.

  Egyptian President Jamal Abd al-Nasir dies and 

is succeeded by Anwar al-Sadat.
