Homework 16.

Tasks on the video “Element 16 – Using Homework”

Homework and practice are related, connected by the context when students are learning on their own and applying new knowledge. Effective teachers approach this kind of learning experience as any other – matching the planned activity to the learning goal. Effective homework should have reasonable time requirements, clear alignment with identified learning goals, and a clear purpose such as:



  1. Assigning purposeful homework----

  2. Homework that helps students to deepen their knowledge---

  3. Homework that enhances the procedural knowledge-----

  4. Encouraging appropriate participation from the home----

Task 1. Match following definitions with the 4 homework purposes given above by watching a video “Element 16 – Using Homework”.

  1. it is recommended that teachers and home suggestions or directions to parents about ways in which they support their child and completion of assignments some examples could be providing sample questions for parents to ask their child or providing roles for the parent to engage in such as acting as a timekeeper overall homework should have a well-articulated purpose which aligns to the learning goal and is reviewed with meaningful feedback.

  2. It reinforces st learning this can be done by providing homework in which sts can practice a skill or process that they can do independently or assignments which allow sts to elaborate on information address in class or task that give sts opportunities to explore topics that interest them.

  3. Extend and refine students’ understanding by using strategies such as comparison, classification, creating analogies, and error analysis..

  4. This approach to homework can involve assigning exercises, activities, performance-based tasks or project-based tasks to enhance students’ fluency in using specific skills, strategies, or processes.
