Introduction. 
The main direction of production of modern equipment is the creation of 
new machines and mechanisms with high performance characteristics based on the production of 
parts and blanks with high physical and mechanical properties.
 
At the present stage of scientific and technological development, strength, durability and 
other characteristics of structural materials are rapidly developing, the equipment materials 
available in the production do not allow the machined parts to work at a high level. Due to these 
features of modern metalworking production, methods of increasing the durability of working 
surfaces of dies and punches are being developed. 
There are several basic ways to increase the durability of dies and punches:

1. heat treatment of dies and molds. Most stamping steels are carbide steels, these steels are 
hardened by quenching and martensite hardening, but in some cases intermetallic quenched 
martensitic steels may be used. 
2. Plastic deformation. The method of plastic deformation surface hardening of workpieces 
is to apply a torque to the workpiece, the surface of which is wrapped around a cylindrical roller 
with a constant radial force and torque. 
3. The method of obtaining anti-corrosion coating by pressing a thin film on the surface of 
the cutting tool for machining under pressure, which increases the physical and mechanical 
properties of the surface layer. 
One of the most effective methods is the method of making a prefabricated die by nitriding 
working surfaces assembled from materials with different levels of heat resistance. 
In this work, the wear resistance of the working parts of punches used in pressure 
machining in die molds is increased.
