Increasing Educated Workforce. Despite the long war period and embargo (sanctions mostly by US), Iran has been able to focus on educating its own engineering capabilities and has gone successful in other areas of science, such as pharmacology, pharmaceutical chemistry, biotechnology and in order to become a self-sustained country. Therefore today, Iran is the second country in the world with the highest number of graduates in engineering sciences (5,000 graduates each year).
Very important fact is that Iranians have been among the first or the-10-first people who were employed by famous giant US companies, such as eBay, Google, You Tube and Zoosk. Besides that more than 5 million Iranians are among the top employees in banking, IT fields of English speaking countries and Middle East [2]. Therefore, Iran is aiming to expand its coverage of IT to other neighborhood countries such as Turkey, China, Middle East and Central Asia, which opens many opportunities in the future.

Another field that is growing is nanotechnology. As we can see in the Graph A, the country is ranking 7th in terms of nano-articles. [3]
The next field well developed in Iran is Aviation and space. Iran is considered 9th country with its own-built satellite in the orbit and 8th when it comes to manufacturing engines of jet. [4]
Untapped Energy Resources. Iran ranks the second place in the world with its gas reserves after the Russian Federation, which is 33.6 trillion cubic meters and is considered the third country with highest natural gas production following Indonesia and Russia. The another is its oil reserves of approximately 153 billion barrels and second largest country that exports oil to OPEC (the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries). [5]
Graph B. Marketed natural gas production and consumption (2000-2010)
Apart from the natural energy resources mentioned above, the country have hydroelectric stations and conventional coal streamlining, and oil-fired station which helped Iran increase the capacity to 33,000 megawatts in 2004. In the same year, it opened its first solar thermal station and started operating in 2009, with that, it has become the third country that was able to develop GTL technology. [6]
Important thing about Iran is that, it is among the limited number of countries with untapped natural gas resources which promises financial privileges for the country in the future, where the demand on energy and gas supplies are ever increasing around the world. According to data, Iran only 160 billion cubic meters (Graph B) every year, and is aiming to expand it exports in the future.
