Economy of Iran. Iran, official name – Islamic Republic of Iran, located in western Asia, 17 largest country by its land (1.64 million square kilometers). A large part of Iran’s economy is owned by the state and it is considered as the largest in the Middle East based on nominal GDP and 21^st largest in the world by PPP (purchasing power parity). The biggest share of the economy goes for the production of oil and gas. Because the state holds 10% proven oil and 15% gas reserves of the world, which makes the country among the giant energy powers. [1]

The country is ranked as a lower-middle income economy according to the World Bank, with GDP nominal $ 231.55 billion (2020) and PPP $1.599 trillion (2022). Iran is a home for leading manufacturing industries in the fields of automobile manufacture, transportation, construction materials, and home appliances, goods of agriculture and food, armaments, pharmaceuticals of the Middle East.
The economy of Iran is one of the unique ones in a world, because it is one of the most sanctioned countries in the world, and it has had a heavy toll on the country. They were mainly imposed by US and Western countries, because there is belief that the actions of the country such as Uranium Enrichment program and other claims related to terrorism in the Middle East.
