The main material of the course paper: Development of the English vocabulary (12th- 19th C) is a topic within the especially general discussion of the personal individualization of students, to correlate speech actions with their real feelings, thoughts and interests. Foreign literature and websites were mainly used to cover the course work. The list of used literatures are: 1. Berezin F.M. , Golovin B.N. General Linguistics: Proc. allowance for universities. The object of the coursework: All the gathered materials related to the theme of the coursework
The aim of the course paper: Internal ways of developing the vocabulary were productive in all historical periods. Word-formation and semantic changes were equally prolific in the creation of new words and new meanings; they were exceptionally productive in the periods of rapid vocabulary growth, such as the Renaissance period.The role of external sources in the extension of the English vocabulary is very considerable, perhaps far more so than in most other languages.Read on to learn about the different parts of speech that the words we use every day fall into, and how we use them together to communicate ideas clearly.
The structure of the research consists of: This work consists of an introduction, two chapters, a conclusion and a list of references.


Chapter I. Types and Sources of Changes

    1. Borrowings from Contemporary Languages in New English

According to the estimates made by modern philologists, in the course of the thousand years — from OE to modern times — the English vocabulary has multiplied tenfold. Perhaps, if it were possible to count all the meanings expressed by lexical items in different historical periods, the figure would be much higher.
