Glossary
Aftermath- the period of time after something such as a war, storm or accident when people are still dealing with the results
Alongside- used to say that people or things do something or exist together at the same time

Corrosive- gradually making something weaker and possibly destroying it
Exploiting- to use someone in a way that takes advantage of them
Incontestable- cannot be argued against
Opiate of the masses- drug to numb you from feeling reality
Overtake- to develop or increase more quickly than someone or something else and become more successful, more important, or more advanced than them

Activity 3. Debate two opposing views on the effect of TV

Divide the class into two sides and decide how you will argue your side. One group will take the pessimist view and the other group will take the optimist view. Look at the points below as a reminder of what your side will argue.
