Glossary
Aftermath- the period of time after something such as a war, storm or accident when people are still dealing with the results
Alongside- used to say that people or things do something or exist together at the same time
Broadcasts- to transmit by television or by radio
Corrosive- gradually making something weaker and possibly destroying it
Exploiting- to use someone in a way that takes advantage of them
Incontestable- cannot be argued against
Opiate of the masses- drug to numb you from feeling reality
Overtake- to develop or increase more quickly than someone or something else and become more successful, more important, or more advanced than them
Pacifying- to comfort and keep quiet
Trace- to find the origins of when something began or where it came from

EXERCISE 1: Hand Gestures:
Ask students to demonstrate and describe the meaning of various hand gestures. You'll be amazed at how many there are. Discuss how facial expressions and other body movements influence the meaning of a hand gesture. What do hand gestures mean in different cultures?
