Content of teaching vocabulary. There are active and passive types of lexical material. Active lexicon is a vocabulary used when pupil expresses his/her own opinion in English or comprehends the others’ speech. Passive is used when the student apprehends emerged vocabulary. Active one is reproductive and passive one is perceptive vocabulary. Both of them make the real vocabulary of a student.
Content of teaching lexicon includes the words which is the part of lexical minimum and learned by doing special exercises because of their difficulties. The difficulty appears on the form, meaning or usage of the words in different context. Actually, words can be difficult for its semantic, functional, formal points.
The content of teaching grammar. Content of teaching materials of language claimed as part of teaching grammar. Content of teaching grammar contains teaching part of grammar phenomena with the help of special rules (not exact rules but models or algorithms) and particular exercises. We can say that each side of grammar phenomenon, or two or three of them (function, semantics, and form) can be placed in content of teaching grammar.

The content of teaching pronunciation. The main aim of Teaching Pronunciation at a secondary school is forming and developing phonological competence, i.e. pronunciation and intonation subskills. The English pronunciation norm is called Received Pronunciation (RP).

  1. Goals for teaching grammar

Sound instructional practice begins with assessment and planning. Begin building your grammar instruction plan by comparing what students must know with what they already know.
Identify the standards. In this standards-driven era, your district or school curricula may dictate grammar skills to be taught at each grade level. If the skills are not labeled as grammar skills, use the proof reading/editing skills that are listed under writing standards. These standards clearly identify what your students must know and what you are responsible to teach.
