2.7 Analysis of the WCU Kuzovleva V.P. 5th grade
At present, this series is the only complete series of textbooks compiled specifically for the mass general education school.
The basis of the EMC "English-5" is the "Program-concept of communicative foreign language education: Development of individuality in the dialogue of cultures", developed by Professor E.I. Passov. For successful work on this set, the methodological recommendations set out in the Teacher's Book will help.
The set is characterized by some features: the goal itself is unusual - the development of individuality in the dialogue of cultures. All aspects of a foreign language culture are closely interconnected, and each of them makes its own special contribution to the development of the student's individuality. Knowledge of the cultures of the countries of the language being studied in this teaching material is not an end in itself, but serves as the basis for mastering the language as a means of communication, contributes to a deeper understanding and awareness of the native culture.
The peculiarity of this EMC is that the learning technology underlying it is designed for everyone and is available to all students, regardless of the level of ability development. This became possible thanks to the consistent implementation of the principle of individualization, as well as the principle of an integrated approach to mastering a foreign culture.
It is commendable that the entire series of teaching materials provides a repetition of previously learned material and a constant rotation of vocabulary and grammar in new speech situations.
The UMC includes:
Audio cassettes
Workbook
Teacher's book
book to read
The textbook is based on 3 hours of English per week. 78 lessons have been developed. The remaining lessons can be used by the teacher to solve any of the following tasks: to finish what there was no time left for during the planned lessons; perform additional exercises that meet the individual interests of students and are aimed at filling gaps or achieving a higher learning outcome.
For convenience, the material in the textbook is given in quarters. The discussion of educational topics is based on a comparison of the cultures of the target language and the native language.
AT first quarters being studied topic "Where are you from? " the second - "What have you got?", in the third - "What can you do?", in the fourth - "What do you like doing?".
The structure of lesson cycles in each quarter is different, which is explained by the specific goal at each particular stage. In each cycle, after a certain number of lessons, repetition lessons are provided, the purpose of which is to consolidate the previously covered material in new situations. The exercises for these lessons are given in the workbook.
Improved valid student ability tests are included in the textbook lessons and workbook materials, allowing the teacher to take into account the strengths and weaknesses of their students.
Each cycle is followed by a "Test Yourself" section containing material for developing self-control and self-assessment skills.
In the workbook, special pages with test tasks have been developed to identify the abilities and personal characteristics of students.
The book for the teacher describes the goals and objectives of teaching a foreign language culture in the 5th grade, the organization of the process of communicative learning at the initial stage, the technology for performing the main types of work used in the teaching materials, and also gives detailed recommendations for conducting lessons.
The audio application consists of cassettes containing all exercises and additional tasks performed in the classroom, as well as texts for listening.
All teaching materials of this series are included in the federal set of textbooks recommended by the Ministry of Education for use in schools./ /
So, all the components of the educational-methodical set "English" are closely interconnected, and only their use in the set can lead to the desired results.
