Use of handouts in learning English
Great opportunities for the development of the teacher's creativity in the educational process are also contained in the handout didactic material, which, as you know, is created by the teacher himself, taking into account the learning conditions and the abilities of students.
Handouts include specially designed cards, with or without illustrations, providing everyone with the opportunity to solve the task, mainly speech. These cards can serve as a support for completing tasks for listening, for compiling a monologue statement, for reading, and for completing a written task.
They make it possible to individualize and activate as much as possible, and, consequently , to intensify the educational process at the initial stage, when the foundations of all types of speech activity are laid and units of language and speech are accumulated in the memory of students.
Cards with a picture or a pasted picture can be used as handouts, and a task is given next to them, for example, prepare 4-5 questions for working in pairs. On the card next to the picture, various kinds of supports for an independent coherent statement can be placed.
The distribution of cards is based on the individual abilities of students.
Cards can be used not only to individualize tasks of a speech nature, but also to train students in the use of language material.
The card may contain connected text, in which pictures are given instead of individual words. Students should read this text using words instead of pictures. Such work is aimed at controlling the assimilation of vocabulary. / 11 /
For example, a teacher prepares 3 types of cards, differing in the amount of material (number of sentences): for the strong - 10, for the average - 5-7, for the weak - 3-5. The time to complete this task is the same for everyone. This creates conditions for the employment of everyone in the implementation of the proposed operation. /eight/
In order to successfully solve the problems of teaching schoolchildren and really prepare them for practical activities, it is necessary not only to use visual methods in the lesson, but also to teach students to work with them on their own. /
