Introduction
There are many interpretations of detective story as a genre but the following stable genre indicators of detective story can be distinguished from dictionary entries. Detectio-disclosure a plot is a work of art based on the conflict between good and evil, which took place in the discovery of the crime. Currently, literature contains many works of the detective genre, but, unfortunately, not all of them are qualitative. Therefore, in modern literature there is a serious problem of writing an exciting, fascinating and novel novel. This is due to the relevance of this work.
In this regard, we set a goal: to demonstrate the process of writing an exemplary detective story on the example of the works of the "Queen of Detective" - the English writer Lady Agatha Christie. This goal involves solving the following tasks:
1. consider the canons of the classic detective story;
2. identify ways to create images of characters;
3. indicate expressive means to help the author in writing any book, including a detective story.
In the work, we used research methods, such as description, classification, analysis.
Structurally, the work consists of: introduction, two chapters, conclusion and bibliography. The theoretical basis of the work was the works of the following authors: G.K. Chesterton, S.S. Van Dyne, R. Knox, N.N. Volsky and others.
Metonymy (Мethonymy) - establishing a connection between phenomena or objects by adjacency, transferring the properties of an object to the object itself, through which these properties are detected. In metonymy, the effect can be replaced by the cause, the contents by the capacity, the material from which the thing is made can replace the designation of the thing itself. The difference between metonymy and metaphor is that metonymy deals only with those connections and combinations that exist in nature. So, at Pushkin, the “hiss of foamy glasses” is replaced by the foaming wine itself, poured into the glasses. At A.S. Griboedov Famusov recalls: "I did it on silver or on gold."
Actuality of the qualification paper: The relevance of this course work is related to the growing popularity of detective literature in English-speaking countries the last 10 years. The main thing in a detective is a logical structure that leads to a single and correct conclusion. Because of this the student may feel like a participant in the investigation process.
