What is the communication?

• Communication is simply the act of transferring information from one place to another.
• Although this is a simple definition, when we think about how we may communicate the subject becomes a lot more complex. There are various categories of communication and more than one may occur at any time.

Categories of communication

• Spoken or verbal: face-to-face, telephone, radio or television and other media.
• Non-verbal: body language, gestures, how we dress or act - even our scent.
• Written: letters, e-mails, books, magazines, the Internet or via other media.
• Visualizations: graphs or charts, maps, logos and other visualizations can communicate messages.

Why do we communicate?

• We communicate for a variety of reasons! We use communication to share information, comment, ask questions, express wants and needs, develop social relationships, social etiquette, etc. Communication is much more than wants and needs. Our main reasons for communication change over time just slightly. Based on the research of Janice Light, during the life span, we are communicating for social reasons over 50% of the time. Wants and needs make a very small part. Exchanging information grows through the years.

I want to give closer information(facts) related to fire brigades and its work placed in the USA since I know that the most of you have some general date about this working field.

• Benjamin Franklin established the first fire company in 1736.
• There are over 27,000 registered fire departments in the United States.
• The registered fire departments represent around 50,000 fire stations nationwide.
• About 20% of registered departments provide EMS transport.
• Most house fires start in the kitchen.
• On average, there are 25 home fires reported per day caused by candles.
• Before a fireman can legally enter a burning building, they need a minimum of 100 hours of training.
• When they get a call, firefighters are expected to get dressed in less than two minutes.
• All of their gear plus tools can weigh around 70 pounds.
• Before fire hydrants were available, firefighters used to have to carry around buckets of water.

Uniform and equipments

• As well as the obvious dangers of heat, firefighters are exposed to toxic fumes, sharp objects, uneven ground, slippery surfaces, biological fluids, spilt chemicals and electricity. As a result, they need to safe uniforms and confidential equipments.

The main equipment: A tunic

• A firefighter's tunic is made from fire resistant, synthetic fabric which retains its structural strength after fire exposure, and resists cuts and tears. It provides a good level of protection without exacerbating the metabolic heat stress of the firefighter. It is designed to enable good flexibility and the collar has a long zip to ensure complete closure of the jacket to the neck. It provides a high level of thermal resistance protection without being overly heavy to wear.

All that they need

• Flash hoods, gloves, boots, helmet, breathing apparatus, wet weather clothing, cold and extreme climate clothing, bushfire jacket, high visibility safety sets, overtrousers.
