to a b re akd ow n in th e c o m m u n ity tie s th a t used to u n ite us. A lso, s e c o n d -h o m e o w n e rs buy ho lid ay 
ho m es here, and th a t has m e a n t th a t th e p ric e of p ro p e rty has esca la te d in re ce n t yea rs, fo rc in g young 
people to move aw ay fro m th e area.

My c ity is be com ing m ore and m ore v ib ra n t as tim e goes on. I love it! It used to be re a lly d u ll, w ith
n o th in g m uch fo r young people to do, but now ba rs and clu b s have begun opening up. The city 's no 
lo n g e r ju s t fo r th e o ld e r ge n e ra tio n s, w ith th e a tre s and m u s e u m s - it's got a new lease of life , w ith a 
gre at n ig h tlife and an in c re a s in g s tu d e n t p o p u la tio n to enjoy it.

A c e n tu ry ago, th is tow n w as a hive of activity, w ith its m any fa c to rie s and its po rt. Nowadays, however, 
it's no w here n e a r as b u s tlin g , as m a n u fa c tu rin g has m oved else w h e re . B ut I, fo r one, d o n 't b e w a il the 
changes. T here 's a c e rta in poignancy and beauty to th e disused in d u s tria l a rc h ite c tu re . And, in fact, 
m any of the old fa c to rie s are being converted into fla ts , and th e y 're e x tre m e ly p o p u la r w ith tre n d y young 
couples w h o are now m oving into th e tow n.
