parents, I used to re a lly enjoy spe nd ing tim e w ith m y g ra n d p a re n ts , cousins, a u n ts and 
uncles. I sp e n t a ll s u m m e r the re , n e a rly tw o w h o le m o n th s, so fro m tim e to tim e m y cousins 
and I w o u ld get bored. We w o u ld ask m y g ra n d p a re n ts if the y had any ideas fo r in te re s tin g
th in g s w e could do. S o m e tim e s the y suggested going fo r a bike ride, s o m e tim e s in to tow n to 
do som e shopping. A t o th e r tim e s , the y show ed us a new gam e to play. Then we w e re happy 
again.
One day - it m u s t be ab ou t 25 yea rs ago (d o e sn 't tim e fly!) - a ll of us got rea lly, re a lly
bored and we kept c o m p la in in g to m y g ra n d p a re n ts . They w e re te a rin g th e ir h a ir out, try in g
to th in k up ideas of w h e re we could go and w h a t we could do. S uddenly, m y gra nd dad cam e 
up w ith the idea of going to a new w a te r p a rk th a t had opened th a t su m m e r. I h a d n 't heard 
about it but m y cou sin s had, and the y to ld m e a ll ab ou t it. It w a s a p a rk w ith vast n u m b e rs of 
d iffe re n t pools, som e in side , som e ou tside . There w e re w a te r s lid e s as w e ll. And, on top of 
tha t, th e re w a s not one, but tw o playg ro u n d s w ith sw ings, a m e rry -g o -ro u n d , see -saw s. We 
w e re so excited.
We set o ff and on th e w ay w e w e re a ll sin gin g son gs and la ug hin g. We c o u ld n 't w a it to get 
th e re . W hen we a rriv e d , m y cou sin s and I ran in to th e p a rk and changed in to o u r s w im m in g
costu m e s. Then w e w e n t lo o k in g fo r the m ost e x c itin g -lo o k in g pool, and we found it, one 
w ith b rig h tly co lo u re d tile s and s lides, we ju m p e d s tra ig h t in. We played a ll day in th e pa rk 
and had a lovely lu n c h , sat on som e benches in th e sun shine.
