4.9.2 Production and sales

In February 2008, the total output value of household appliance manufacturing industry reached 91.85 billion yuan, up by 20.25% on a year-on-year basis. In November, the cumulative output value was 624.25 billion yuan, up by 14.62% on a year-on-year basis. In February, the sales value of household appliance manufacturing industry was 89.169 billion yuan, up by 24.36% on a year-on-year basis. In November, the cumulative sales value was 601.26 billion yuan, up by 13.61% on a year-on-year basis. The sales-output ratio of this industry in February was 97.09% and dropped slightly to 96.32% in November. The value of manufactured goods in February was 37.6 billion yuan, up by 22.8% on a year-on-year basis, and increased to 39.602 billion yuan in November, up by 11.67% on a year-on-year basis.

4.9.3 Costs and expenses

In February 2008, the sales costs of household appliance manufacturing industry reached 75.73 billion yuan, up by 23.28% on a year-on-year basis. In November, the cumulative sales costs stood at 517.243 billion yuan, up by 12.86% on a year-on-year basis. The sales expense in February approached 6.166 billion yuan, up by 33.68% on a year-on-year basis. The cumulative sales expense in November was 37.6 billion yuan, up by 12.38% on a year-on-year basis. In February 2008, the management expenses and financial costs of household appliance manufacturing industry were 3.516 billion yuan and 0.775 billion yuan respectively, up by 30.86% and 53.83%. In November, the cumulative management expenses and financial costs were 20.998 billion yuan and 4.89 billion yuan, up by 18.52% and 26.37% on a year-on-year basis.

4.9.4 Profits

In February 2008, the cumulative profits of household appliance manufacturing industry reached 2.4 billion yuan, up by 56.26% on a year-on-year basis. In November, the cumulative profits were 17.84 billion yuan, up by 8.57% on a year-on-year basis. In February 2008, 631 enterprises or 26.10% of all companies suffered losses. In November, the cumulative number of enterprises in the red was 513 for 20.44% of all companies. The number of loss-suffering enterprises was declining. In February, the total loss reached 727 million yuan, up by 17.09% on a year-on-year basis. In November, the cumulative loss stood at 2.63 billion yuan, up by 26.78% on a year-on-year basis. The year-on-year growth of total loss saw a steady rise.

4.9.5 Operation performance

In February 2008, the product sales revenue growth of household appliance manufacturing industry stood at 55.18%, down by 23.93 percentage points on a year-on-year basis. In November, the product sales revenue growth was 52.57%, down by 12.29 percentage points on a year-on-year basis. In February 2008, the value-added ratio of capital maintenance was 142.93%, up by 21.24 percentage points on a year-on-year basis. In November, the ratio became 131.45%, down by 5.98 percentage points on a year-on-year basis. In February 2008, the asset-liability ratio of household appliance manufacturing industry was 59.05%, down by 1.46 percentage points on a year-on-year basis. In November, the asset-liability ratio was 58.49%, down by 2.85 percentage points on a year-on-year basis. In February 2008, the net amount growth rate of accounts receivable was 44.45%, down by 28.65 percentage points on a year-on-year basis. In November, the rate was 10.55%, down by 30.84 percentage points. The net amount growth rate of accounts receivable encountered a sharp decline.

4.9.6 Production and sales by region

In 2008, Guangdong achieved 289.711 billion yuan output value of household appliance manufacturing industry, accounting for 46.41% of the industry’s total output, the highest in the country, up by 18.33% on a year-one-year basis. The total output value of Shandong was 68.906 billion yuan, accounting for 11.04%, up by 13.52% on a year-one-year basis. The total output value of this industry was relatively large in Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Shanghai. The total output value and sales value were small in Qinghai, Shaanxi, Shanxi and Heilongjiang. In this year, Qinghai ranked the first in China in sales-output ratio of 570.19%, followed by Hunan, Beijing, and Shanghai. The ratio of Shanxi was 48.46% as the lowest in China. Anhui, Guizhou and Shaanxi had a relatively low sales-output ratio.
