autonomous vehicles, and inter- and intravehicle communications. These techniques embrace (but are 
not restricted) to mobile applications, device networks, and communications that alter human-to-ve-
hicle information flow, a vehicle-to-vehicle information exchange, a vehicle-to-infrastructure flow, a 
vehicle-to-platform flow, and vehicle to everything information and data flow. Wherever a need for 
standardization exists, the SCC will develop guides, advised practices, standards, and customary defi-
nitions of terms. The IEEE SCC42 transportation will assemble connected disciplines to help guarantee 
a future of transportation that can be extra related, automated, intelligent, electrical, and electronic.
The Institution of Transportation Engineers (ITE) is a global instructional and scientific association 
of transportation professionals. ITE supports the purpose of technology and scientific principles for 
the analysis, planning, implementation, operation, policy development, and management of vehicular 
networks. National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) is a trade association for electrical 
productions. NEMA member firms manufacture products employed in the Traffic Management Cen-
ter. The National Transportation Communications for ITS Protocol (NTCIP) is a joint standardization 
project of AASHTO, ITE, and NEMA.
American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is the official US representative to the International 
ISO, US National Committee, and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The American 
Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) establishes international standards to enhance the quality, 
safety, and performance of vehicles on the roads. Particularly from the industry point of view, ASTM 
contributes in expert testing of parts and materials for automotive manufacturers. The American Public 
Transportation Association (APTA) has played an important role in creating active working structure 
for the development of vehicular standards. Their various activities have been carried out in order to 
maintain and procure these ITS standards.
