Origin and Destination Locations. The price also depends on whether the pickup and drop off locations are major cities or far away from them, on the other hand. Major City To Major City transportation is always cheaper and easier to book because major cities are connected to major roads and highways. When transporting to smaller cities and remote areas, drivers need to reroute from major roads, which results in an increase in price.
How is the pricing done?
There are two systems a broker uses and consults when determining the price. There are no preset prices for any particular route. The broker sets the price taking all of the factors above into consideration, and consulting:
Sample Prices ( $ ) in JTracker and Central Dispatch (CD). Sample Prices is a database of vehicles that have been accepted and transported at a certain price on the route we’re calculating the price for (doesn’t always display the exact same pickup and drop off locations, but it displays almost the same mileage). Central Dispatch is a global booking system board which displays all the posted loads and all the vehicles in need of shipment on specific routes. Sample Prices can give us an estimated price considering all of the above factors, but we will know if the price is right only when we compare it to the current state of the market on Central Dispatch for a particular route. Central Dispatch tells us exactly how many vehicles are posted for shipment on a given route and what their prices are. When we compare a price from Sample Prices with prices on Central Dispatch, we can get a clear picture on whether we should increase or decrease the price because the price is always influenced by the market and by the rule of supply and demand. If there are many vehicles awaiting transport on a particular route, and not enough carriers to transport all of them, we have to offer the carrier a bigger price in order for our vehicle to be picked up rather than a different one, that is, in order to give priority to our vehicle. It also happens that Sample Prices displays prices that are much higher than what’s listed on Central Dispatch. In that case, the price should be reduced, matching the prices on CD. The prices on Sample Prices are realistic, but they should be double checked and matched to the prices posted on CD, because CD is the main source of information and the main parameter for forming prices. Sometimes, there are no posted vehicles on a particular route and there’s nothing we could compare prices from the Sample Prices with. In that case, we define prices using just the Sample Prices.
