The lectures of the programme “Cultural administration” don’t only develop the course materials, but also complete the knowledge in padagogics by learning new skills and methods of the educative work.

7.6.3. Publication and research activities of the academic staff
BRI culture management studies’ research work is tightly connected to the studies’ work- the tutors’ scientific interests and research topics are connected to study courses and course papers prepared by them.

“Cultural administration” faculty tutors conduct scientific researches in two directions: “Transformation of the cultural process’s organization in the united European Union” and Problem of actualization of the cultural heritage”. Within the researches the tutors of the faculty of “Cultural administration” participated with their reports in an international scientifically practical conference “Entrepreneur’s business problems and rights’ development problems and ways in XXI century” in 2002, but in 2005 organized a work in the section “Private initiative in culture: ideas, projects, problems” (International conference “Private business in the Baltic States- first year in Europe” Riga, May 25.-26., 2005), where both BRI tutors and students and professionals (I.Štamgute, J.Spalviņš, J.Anmanis, entrepreneur J.Gombergs) participated. The conference materials were published. The tutors of the faculty “Cultural administration” took active participation in the international conference “Cooperation of the language and culture: the Russian language in the cultural communication environment of the new Europe”. The study research project “Old Hanseatic Riga” development confirms the students’ participation in the research work. In 2004/2005 the project concept was developed and the work with study “case” situations has been accomplished, as well as 12 students’ study projects were defended. These projects are long-term ones, which foresees also study and scientific methodical seminars organization, the students’ research work organization both in Latvia and other European countries, that is, Germany, cooperation with foreign partners, students’ practice realization. From the German partner’s side there is a project support from prof. Manfred Kerner (Berlin Open university) and the German Republic embassy in Latvia (culture attache Folker Erhard).

Within the proposed problem of a scientific research there is possibility to pick the direction of a concrete research preserving the specific character of one’s scientific interests.

Doc. I.Markina concentrates on problems of culture and national identity and paradigm phenomena in culture. Interests of lecturer, master degree holder in art, N.Pazuhina is concentrated on observing translation of cultural traditions and problems of preservation of cultural identity. Docent S.Hajenko sphere of activity is modern Latvian visual art, particularly, fine art, the problems of reception, artist (author) and spectator interaction. Z.Saveljeva Ma. Filol. Specializes in general questions of intercultural communication and analysis of the discourse problems.

The faculty and programme tutors not only work on their individual projects, but also participate in wide-ranged international research projects (for instance, I. Markina, N. Pazuhina in an international project “Culture dynamics and dialogue in the 21 century”, I. Naradovska in a scientific grant Nr. 932 Latvian literature and modern literally theoretical conception: feminism discourse).

Faculty lecturers have published more than 40 articles in professional journals and editions (Riga, Vilnius, Moscow, St. Petersburg publishing houses); prepared and published 9 study materials in corresponding disciplines (see Appendix 7.).

Faculty lecturers regularly take part in various scientific conferences, congresses and seminars. During last years more than 25 reports have been read in conferences organised in Latvia and abroad (see Appendix 8.).



7.7. Guarantee of infrastructure and sources of financing the study programme

7.7.1. Finances of the study programme

Finances of programme consist of:



  • finances of founders;

  • students’ study fee;

  • profit from creative, research, and scientific works, including conferences;

  • donations and charity.
