Relevance of the research issue 
is due to the fact that the influence of various international 
governmental organizations on the contemporary stage has considerably increased. They became 
centers of uniting the efforts of states to develop new forms of cooperation in the economic sphere. 
In addition, they are an institutional foundation of the multilateral regulation of international 
economic relations and perform important functions aimed at ensuring the free circulation of goods, 
services, capital, the resolution of international business disputes, decisions in different forms and 
have different levels of obligation for participating States. 
The purpose 
work is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the structure and functioning of 
intergovernmental organizations in the system of modern international relations. 
Research objectives: 

to give a definition of "international governmental organization"; 

to consider the types, functions and characteristics of international governmental 
organizations; 

to study international governmental organizations in the security system; 

to identify the role of international governmental organizations; 

to study the influence of international governmental organizations on the development of 
international relations; 

to identify ways of strengthening international governmental organisations in modern 
international relations;
