Modern leather industry:
India produces around 12.9% of the world’s leather production of hides/skins. The
annual production of leather in India is about 3 bn sq. ft. of leather. The country accounts for
9% of the world’s footwear production. India is placed among top 10
leather exporting
country. Kanpur is known as the 'Leather City', due to production of the finest quality leathers
and presence of largest tanneries in the country. In India, leather materials are very costly.
The various animals are slaughtered for the demand of the leather. Although, artificial leather
also
present in the market, which are very cheap. Though, when we able to slaughter the
animal in the slaughter house, at the same time animals skin also can be used as leather as a
by product.
Bio gas and Fertilizer provider:
There are very less number of organization or farm where the dung and urine are
collected for bio gas production. The majority of farmers are not known about the bio gas and
its benefit. If they
can learn the technique, they can easily cut off the dependency upon the
electricity produced after burning of coal, diesels, gas or
nuclear powered electricity
generation. It is observed that 40 kg fresh dung is required to produce 1 kg biogas. The
average calorific value of biogas is about 21-23.5 MJ/m³. One Cubic meter biogas produces
energy content of about 6 kWh, equivalent to 0.5-0.6 l diesel fuel burn. Now a days in
fisheries,
agriculture lands, there are huge demand for the by product especially slurry and
solid product. Especially due to digestion of the dung and urine,
the harm full effect of
ammonia is reduced and become more beneficial for the plants and increase the productivity
in agriculture field.
By product processing Industry:
Her
e
, we can utilize the by-products like bone, hooves, horn, blood, hide, and non-
edible organs. From the bone we can produce the bone meal.
This can be served as the
potential source of natural minerals as well as vital trace minerals. The blood can be served as
the protein source as well as food products for the animals. The hooves and horns can be
utilized
to produce gelatine, neats foot oil used as a greasing agent in Aviation industry.
Ultimate aim is to help and stabilize the financial status of the farmer.
To make the animal husbandry sector profitable we need to open our eyes and widen
the use of all components of the animal body. Ultimately it is helpful for the environment as
well as for the betterment of animal and mankind. Lastly, I want to conclude the whole
material in short sentence- “
Animal is a living gold
”, we should know,
how to utilize the
animal. New era is waiting for the animal husbandry sector and can become the source of
income and employment generation.
India again shall be the global leader in the way of peace, prosperity, knowledge and
spirituality. India to shine again and held heads high like that of the ancient age.
