THE MAIN FINDINGS AND RESULTS 

In the 16th centuries in the late Middle Ages, after the collapse of the Golden Horde in the Aral 

Sea region, a significant part of the Uzbeks  moved from  the north and mixed with the Iranian-

speaking  population  of  Khorezm.  Ethnic  composition  of  the  Golden  Horde  Uzbeks  was  much 

closer to the Aral Karakalpaks and Kazakhs, although they are part of the Uzbek people. 

The  appearance  of  Uzbeks  in  Khorezm  is  associated  with  the  names  of  Sheibani  Khan,  the 

grandson  of Abulkhair [3,75], and the sultans  Ilbars and  Bilbars, the sons  of Berke  Khan, who 

moved to Khorezm in 1511 “with their houses and people” [4,174].
