FORWARD
The proliferation of Violent Conflict is Africa and Nigeria in particular has continued to
pose a threat to nation’s development. Such conflict has always been trailed by cycle of violence
which often led to destruction of lives and properties infrastructural damage, traumatic experiences
etc. The most notorious and intractable conflict has been those induced by religious, ethic, identity
and political factors. The indigenous settlers’ tensions and high rate of unemployment among
youth are a widespread cause of conflict in Africa. The quest for political
power and resource
control, corruption, injustice also contribute to violence conflict. Understanding
the concept of
peace and conflict resolution is an analysis of various conflicts and conflict resolution mechanism
adapted in Africa and Nigeria in particular towards achieving peace and the role play by United
Nations, African Union and ECOWAS in peace keeping operation in Africa.
Therefore I have the singular honour and privilege to strongly
recommend the book to
researchers and members of the general public who would like to widen their horizon about
conflict resolution.
