ABSTRACT 
Since conflict is a threat to human development and has become an integral part of human-
existence and a social reality that is inevitable, it is certain that the concept of conflict has to face 
challenges in defining its prospects. This first edition book is an attempt to harness, enhance and 
discuss the various meanings of conflict prevention and theories. Conceptual trend in the .field of 
conflict prevention and resolution, causes of conflict, the theories and the concept of conflict 
prevention, conflict preventive diplomacy, the perspective of conflict prevention and social 
stability in African Society, identity conflict, non violence to conflict resolution, Gacaca and 
Ubuntu conflict, peace keeping operations. The research work cumulatively will unravel a host 
of problem which have direct effects on human existence in relation to conflict analysis links 
between globalization, liberalization, rising poverty, the pressures of democratization and 
authoritarian break down, marginalization and the dream of political inclusion and exclusion vis-
a is can largely be attributed to conflict. Therefore in recommendations and conclusion I suggest 
that the UN and the international community should be involved in the development of an effective 
proactive conflict prevention system that requires a better insight into the economics of war or 
peace. Thus, I also advocate the institutions of restorative justice within the constitution of states 
and societies.
