Sunshine Acres Summer Camp

Staff Covenant

Please initial each statement that you agree with
_______ Rumors, backbiting, and unresolved interpersonal issues soon tear apart the people of God. Matthew 18:15-17 is clear about how to handle disagreements, misunderstandings and troubled feelings. Do you agree to talk only with the person/persons who have offended you about the offense, and not talk to anyone else about the offense until you have worked through the problem in the proper biblical steps?
_______ Do you agree to welcome a person that you have offended who comes directly to you to resolve the issue, and if the issue is not resolved, proceed through this biblical process?
_______ As a member of the Sunshine Acres staff, I will seek to be an example of biblical Christian living throughout my period of employment.

_______ I acknowledge that as a leader of young people at Sunshine Acres, my life will be watched and modeled. Therefore, I will be extra careful not to be a stumbling block to those around me.
_______ I recognize that human rules and human leadership, imperfect though they may be, have always been necessary for God's people and I do submit myself to Sunshine Acres rules and to the leadership of those over me. If I find myself unable to gladly live my life within this structure I will talk with those in authority before I act in variance with, or discuss with others, the philosophies and programs of Sunshine Acres.

I believe the fullest, richest life comes to me as I give myself over to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. I believe that I am to serve the Lord through serving His people this summer at Sunshine Acres, and I will seek to do so with a heart committed to being a man or woman of God. It is my heart's desire to be all that God would have me become, and I see my role at Sunshine Acres in my life this summer as being planned by God that I may become more like Him through the worship and work of which I shall be a part.

Dress Code Policy

As a Christian camp, we have the responsibility to create an environment that sets the best example for campers, considers the feelings of other staff, guests, and visitors, and honors God in every way possible. When it comes to setting dress code policy, this sometimes becomes difficult, as there are differences of opinion over what might be considered appropriate. In trying to make decisions as leaders, the following factors must be considered as we look at dress code.

  • Bare feet are prohibited at all times to persons on camp property, except in the pool area.

  • Hats are not to be worn during meals, flag raising or lowering.

  • Bathing suits must be modest. No thongs or bikinis permitted.

  • No short-shorts for both men and women.

  • No body piercing allowed with the exception of female earrings. Earrings should not be large enough to be grabbed during normal activities or caught on someone or something.
