Chapter I: INTRODUCTION

Overview – Basic Outlines: The agriculture of Uzbekistan is one of sectors of the economy which is most regulated by the state. It includes the cotton, grain, hemp, fruit, viticulture, vegetables and melons. This sector also includes wheat, barley, corn and others. More than 60% of the population of country (and in some regions - 80%) live in rural areas. Agriculture accounts for 26-27% of the country's gross domestic product and 45% of its national income. The land fund of Uzbekistan is about 45 million. Of this, 28 million hectares are agricultural land. The main part of the land fund is irrigable land, and its total area is about 5 million hectares, or only 11.11% of the total land fund.
