From June 22-July 20, FIUTS is hosting the Study of the US Institute for Student Leaders in Journalism and New Media (SUSI), sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. This exchange program brings 20 undergraduates between the age of 19-25 from Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh or Nepal to Seattle. While here, international participants will study journalism and new media, participate in volunteer and service activities, leadership workshops and cultural excursions.

SUSI Ambassadors are University of Washington students who volunteer for the FIUTS SUSI program and receive training and experience in leadership, planning, teamwork, and citizen diplomacy. Ambassadors are an integral part of the SUSI program and act as cultural liaisons, peer mentors, friends and leaders during international participant’s time in Seattle. As a SUSI Ambassador, you can learn new skills, have fun, make friends from South Asia, build your resume and support FIUTS’ mission to inspire cross-cultural friendship and understanding on campus and in our community.
Ambassadors will have the opportunity to meet and spend time with all 20 SUSI students, but will be matched with one specific SUSI participant to support throughout their program. Ambassadors should be available for 3 hours of pre-program training, an overnight retreat with SUSI participants on Saturday, June 28^th and 1-3 service, leadership and social activities per week (including Opening Ceremony, Baseball Game, Space Needle, service project and more!) between June 22^nd and July 20^th. Ambassadors are invited to attend leadership workshops alongside participants every Friday from 9-12.
