Motivation letter
After school, I continued my studies at a lyceum specializing in natural sciences,
and then entered the National University of
Uzbekistan, majoring in biology.
During my studies, I realized that studying biochemistry, molecular biology,
genetics, enzymology, microbiology at the molecular level of life can help to
reveal the essence of each process. Since practical skills were
crucial to achieving
my dream, I volunteered at the Center for Advanced Technology’s biotechnology
lab. There I got acquainted with various methods in the field: PCR, real-time RCR,
chromatography, sequencing, ELSA, protein purification, DNA separation,
Western-Blotting, gel-electrophoresis, restriction analysis and reached the level of
their independent performance. I am currently working as a laboratory assistant. I
am also a member of a team working on recombinant protein and DNA vaccines
against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Given this opportunity, I am learning more about
vector construction and protein purification.
In addition to practical experiments, scientific seminars are organized in the
laboratory. During the seminar, I was attracted to the
field of DNA
nanotechnology. I searched the internet for various information about it. The fact
that Anton Kuzyak and his team used DNA as a self-assembling force as a
construction technique brought me closer to the field and aroused a strong interest
in me. This suggests that DNA nanotechnology is a key field.
I regularly follow his
articles and am inspired by his work. Aalto provides ample opportunities to
participate in research that is relevant to my interests and experience. And being
part of a team formed by Anton Kuzyak will allow me
to gain practical skills in
DNA nanotechnology, including the design of DNA-origami-based metal
panstructures, and get acquainted with advanced technologies and methodologies.
I plan to pursue my bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral dissertations in the
future
on the subject of improving society and human life;
I want to put it into practice. One of my goals is to exchange ideas with professors
and international students during the internship program you are organizing. In
addition to gaining international knowledge
and experience, it is a special pleasure
to see the culture, traditions and unique natural landscapes of Finland. I hope to
make the most of the internship program by sharing my knowledge
with young
people in Uzbekistan and contributing to the development of this field in my
country.
