Abstract:
Listening remains a challenge for EFL students, despite the fact that it 
appears to be a simple skill. Many students in Uzbekistan complain about various causes 
during the comprehension stage of listening texts. The purpose of this study is to look at the 
frequency of problems seen in three listening categories: problems caused by teachers, 
problems caused by students' own strategies, and problems caused by learner psychology. 
The findings of this study, as well as the challenges of overcoming listening difficulties in 
EFL classes, are also discussed.

young learners, activate strategies.
 
 
Introduction 
One of the most fundamental aspects of learning and teaching English is listening. In 
order to be successful in listening, students should develop strategies such as taking notes 
while listening, practicing, or having methods for feeling relaxed while listening. According 
to Kurita (2012), developing learners' own listening strategies allows them to be successful 
listeners. According to Vandergrift (2004), learners should learn to listen so that they can 
better listen to learn. According to Yagang (1993), listening is influenced by four factors: 
the message, the speaker, the listener, and the surrounding environment. That is why, when 
there is a problem with listening, it may appear difficult to determine the cause because 
there are numerous factors that can easily affect listening performance. The problems with 
listening will be examined in this paper in sections as the results of a study. Because it is 
critical to understand the source of problems in order to solve them.
