LESSON ONE: CRITICAL THINKING
Affirmation for you and for your students:
At the end of the lesson they:

  • Can follow speech which is very slow and carefully articulated, with long

pauses for him/her to assimilate meaning.

  • Can understand simple technical information, such as operating instructions

for everyday equipment
Study skills: Listening as a member of a live audience (theatre, public

meetings, public lectures, entertainments, etc)


Exercise 1. Draw students’ attention on the picture. Give them some

time to look through the cycle in it. Encourage them find out the notion of ‘critical

thinking’ through the descriptions in the picture.
Exercise 2. Team up students. Write the words as ‘Critical thinking’ on the board. Ask students to give the definitions to the words. Organize discussion on these two terms.
