aimed at finding common relationships, regularities, typological features that are characteristic of 
all studied education systems. As emphasizes I.R. Lugovskaya, research is most effective when it is 
conducted on the basis of the methodological principle of “studying the generality in a particular 
event”. This principle is realized through the search for generality in individuality and speciality, 
which actually makes up a comparative-pedagogical analysis of educational systems [2, p. 43]. 
It is important, on the basis of the study of peculiarities, to identify the gaps in textbook 
creation practice, explore the key factors of partners’ success and put forward own ideas for 
improving the process of creating new generation textbooks.
According to the definition of T.V. Danilova, the gap is the difference between the present 
and the desired state of the system (organization, process) under consideration. The gap can be 
positive, zero and negative. A positive gap indicates that the organization is indeed the bearer of 
best practice, in contrast to the partner organization [3]. 
At the fourth stage of benchmarking research, it is necessary to develop scenarios for the 
implementation of a strategy of making changes to new generation textbooks. Adaptation of 
benchmarking results to the existing system is a rather difficult step. It is very important to correctly 
assess how effective the application of new ideas and technologies are in the new context. It is 
especially important to determine whether the use of foreign experience in the field of textbook 
creation is effective, take into account the available opportunities and resources, and adjust the 
number of sentences and words in the text and letters in words according to the grammatical 
structure of the textbook language.
