ISSUES ON THE HISTORY OF THE STUDYING EMOTIONAL CONCEPTS

Abstract:
The article deals with the issues based on the history of the studying emotional concepts.
The sphere of emotions has long been the object of close attention of various branches of knowledge.
Originally emotional concepts were the subject of study of separate sciences: psychology, philosophy,
linguistics, but then the formation of interdisciplinary associations began to be observed. Thus,
emotions began to be studied at the intersection of linguistics, cybernetics, biology, and mathematics.
Most researchers point out that emotional concepts have a more complex and delicate structure than
other concepts. The author analyzed the researches and views of scientists-researchers on the history
of the studying emotional concepts.

The history of the study of emotional concepts is directly related to the formation of a cognitive
approach to the study of concepts. Followers of this approach are based on an understanding of
emotions as psychological phenomena, as the basis of the emotional concepts that shape the emotional
linguistic landscape of the world.
The term “emotional concept” (EC) was put into scientific circulation thanks to the works of Yu.
D. Apresyan, N.D Arutyunova, A.Vejbitskaya, M. Vekker, S.G.Vorkachev, N. V. Dorofeeva,
N.F.Ejova, A.A. Zaliznyak, N. A. Krasavskiy, E.Yu. Myagkova, L.N. Churilina and others.
A. Vezhbitskaya was one of the first to raise the issue of conceptualization of concepts,
emphasizing that the conceptual world of representatives of other cultures and nations should be
understood from the point of view of the native speaker of that nation

. He pointed out that the course
of emotional states and their conceptualization differ significantly between representatives of different
cultures.
The process of raising the EC to the focus of Russian linguoculturalism is primarily connected with
the works of V.I.Shakhovsky, who noted

: “Because the emotional phase of the process of knowing
the world by man is interrelated with the activity of his emotional thinking the linguistic system
(rational cognition) constantly performs the function of coding non-linguistic concepts (including
emotional experiences) and operating them by manipulating verbal meanings”.

In other words, V.I.
Shakhovsky was one of the first to raise the problem of conceptualization of emotions by linguistic
means, emphasizing that the process of conceptualization of emotions is a cognitive-discursive
activity, in which the understanding of socio-cultural norms is realized through linguistic signs.
Essential research on emotional concepts is presented in the works of N.A. Krasavsky

scientist comprehends the phenomenon under study as “an ethnic, culturally conditioned, complex
structural-semantic, lexical and / or phraseological verbal shell with a conceptual basis ... a functional
