State Independence and economic achievements of the Republic of Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan was proclaimed an independent state at the extraordinary Session of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan on the 31^st of August, 1991. The 1^st of September was announced a red day and the national holiday of the citizens of Uzbekistan. During the 27-year period Uzbekistan has achieved great resuls in industry, economy and agriculture. Uzbekistan has the biggest economic potential from is own resources among the other Central Asian republics. In the world production of quality gold, Uzbek gold has won some international prizes for the last 17 ears. Besides gold, other metals like copper, zinc, lithium, tungsten are also produced in Uzbekistan. Gas, coal, oil are also available. Uzbekistan has about 1000 joint ventures with Germany, Korea, Japan and many other Turkish, Italian and French Companies.
