Methods used in this research include analytical, descriptive methods.

The object of the research is to learning biography of author.

The subject of the given research is to reveal the theme in “Tess of the d’Urbervilles” by Thomas Hardy.

Theoretical value of this course paper is that one makes use this research work for the further research writing, articles and in other works.

The practical value of this course paper is that the materials included in the research work can be used in the practical lessons on the American Literature.

The structure of the work the given course paper consists of introduction, 2 chapters which are followed by the list of the literature used in the course of the research.

Introduction is about the aim which is used in the course of it explains its actuality, purpose, literary and scientific value.

Main part consists of two chapters.

The Chapter 1 includes three paragraphs.

The first paragraph is about Thomas Hardy’s early life.

In the second paragraph, it is taken information about Late novels of Thomas Hardy.

In the last paragraph, which includes author’s Poetry.

The Chapter II is named “Tess of the d’Urbervilles” which includes two paragraphs.

The first paragraph is about the main themes, ideas of the novel.

In the second paragraph, it is taken information about Educational value of the book to EFL learners.

Conclusion summarizes the main points and reviews the information which was covered in the research work.
