2.2.Main Character of “ Pygmalion”

  Eliza Doolittle- flower-girl. She is not at all romantic character in this play. She is a poor girl with Cockney accent. At the end of the play, he learned how to dress and how to speak in English like a duchess. And she was married to Freddy in the end.
  
• 
  Professor Henry Higgins- a professor of phonetics. He teaches Eliza how to dress and how to pronounce English words. His biggest fault is that he can be a bully.
  
• 
  Colonel Pickering – the author of Spoken Sanskrit. He is a match for Higgins. Pickering is always considerate and gentle to everyone. He is from India.
  
• 
  Alfred Doolittle- the father of Eliza. He is a vigorous dustman and is ready for money to do everything.
  
• 
  Mrs . Higgins- the mother of professor Higgins. She is very gentle. Her worries prove true in the play.
  
• 
  Freddy Eynsford Hill – he became the husband of Eliza at the end of the play.During the play, he becomes lovesick to Eliza.CLara – the sister of Freddy and she is somehow rude to people.
  

Although there are a number of characters in “Pygmalion”, the main three characters are Eliza Doolittle, Henry Higgins, and Colonel Pickering.

Conclusion
As a conclusion, I can say that I tried to learn all information that is related my course topic. After this research , I knew more about Bernard Shaw and his best and popular works. He was a father of plays and his works are very punctual and interesting to read. They help to broaden our horizon and identify truths in the society. To my mind , the writer was strong enough to struggle against life problems. He had to live different places and had to study various schools which were not interesting for him. During his life time, he achieved different kind of jobs and careers like poletic, critic,playwright etc. Moreover , I deeply learned about the play “ Pygmalion”. I think, it is the most interesting play I have ever read. Because it is both comic and moral work. It protects the women’s rights in the society. To my point of view, Henry Higgins work on Eliza Doolittle is an incredible power because he does a great transformation of her style and speech.Shortly saying , Bernard shaw is one of the rare playwright who has a great number of heritage for the generation. However , at first, I think Eliza would married to Mr. Higgins and I wanted this although his bad behavior to Eliza. But this is a complex play of Shaw. Adjusting from a poor girl that sells flowers to a duchess is one of the most mysterious thing. Bernard Shaw clearly depicted this mystery in his best work “ PYGMALION”.
