The Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas
branch in Tashkent was 
established in 2007. The main mission of this branch is to produce highly qualified 
specialists for Uzbekistan’s oil, gas, and petrochemical industry. The curriculum 
focuses mainly on oil and gas (i.e., geology, exploration, geophysics, and information 
systems, etc.) and economics and management of the oil and gas industry.
Lomonosov Moscow State University
branch in Tashkent was founded in 2006. 
It trains high-quality specialists in the fields of mathematics, computer science, 
and psychology.
Plekhanov Russian University of Economics
is the oldest international branch 
institute operating in Uzbekistan. In the 20 years since its foundation, more 
than 2,800 students have graduated. It offers undergraduate and post-graduate 
degrees in economics. The university has international students, including from 
Afghanistan, Armenia, the People’s Republic of China, Israel, Kazakhstan, the 
Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.

The Umid Foundation was established in 1997 to help talented Uzbek youth study abroad and was 
later transformed into the “Iste’dod” Foundation of the President to enhance the professional skills of 
prospective teachers and scientists.
