Chapter 2.ICT resources
The success of learning depends on the consistent integration of ICT. However, teachers do not have many ideas in this regard. Their perception of the importance of e-learning may encourage them to integrate ICT into their teaching practice. As one of the developing countries, Uzbekistan does not have adequate access to the Internet and e-learning. Similarly, we may face certain challenges when trying to integrate ICT and electronic devices. Similarly, we must have strategic competencies in the use of ICTs and electronic devices in our language learning behavior so that we can integrate e-learning into classroom learning. The issue stated in this study is whether teachers in our context are familiar with the concept of integrating ICT into teaching, what is their understanding of the benefits and challenges associated with integrating ICT into teaching and learning English, and so on.
Technology has largely created opportunities and challenges for teachers and students. The recent surge in the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) is having an impact on how English and other languages are taught and learned. The value of ICT for language learning is widely acknowledged, albeit with caution in some cases. In the context of developing countries, ICT is often seen as an empowering tool that gives people access to opportunities and choices that have not been available until now, however, electronic devices for teaching and learning English are still a new area in developing countries .Teachers in the 21st century must integrate technology to effectively teach languages in the classroom. In technology integrated learning, teachers and students use electronic devices. Electronic devices are those devices that perform their task electronically. ICTs can be seen as empowering tools that give people access to opportunities and choices for grammar exercises and activities. Technology is the way people use the ideas of science to make their task easier, faster, and more accessible .Nowadays, some modern electronic devices such as computer, TV, overhead projector, mobile phone, multimedia and web applications play a vital role in language learning as they help to teach language more effectively and appropriately. It is claimed that most teachers in urban areas use various technologies in the classroom We see a growing trend in the use of ICTs in teaching and learning languages through electronic devices. This can be regarded as a positive signal for e-learning. However, there are many problems with this. Problems are related to our attitudes towards use, the problems we face as we work through them in class, and the strategies we need to choose to them effectively.
In the field of ELT, various types of technologies and electronic devices are used to help foreign language teachers make their professional lives easier argues that the main impact of recent advances in foreign language teaching can be seen in terms of a learner-centered, motivation-based, and activity-oriented approach to language teaching supported by television, radio, and audiovisuals. Technology in the classroom is a double-edged sword. Engaging modern students with the so-called “digital natives”, for whom smartphones and social networks are a way of life, is an urgent need of the day. Thus, educators believe that they must integrate digital learning strategies. At the same time, many modern electronic devices and software are being introduced into the classroom for more effective language learning. In this regard, electronic media can now bring real English to all our schools, however remote, if we provide them with distribution channels, students learn real English. at school with much more ease and zeal thanks to radio, television and other electronic devices.Today, science and ICT have influenced every aspect of human life. Most of the significant advances that can be seen today can be attributed to the influence of science and technology. Even in the education sector, we see that technological progress and innovation have had a marked impact and changed the scenario. Traditional methods of getting higher education have become less motivating. Here, technology plays an important role in creating innovation and motivating students. The word "ICT" includes any communication device such as a computer, mobile phones, radio, television and satellite system. It has to do with the power of the Internet. Nowadays, the role and use of technology as a tool for teaching English is on the rise as educators realize their ability to create both independent and collaborative learning environments where students can easily learn English. The use of ICT in the teaching and learning process takes an hour and the teacher is expected to be innovative and enthusiastic in their teaching and learning process by integrating ICT. Thteacher needs to think about the use of technology in teaching.
ICT literacy is fundamental to life in our modern technological society. To equip learners as literate lifelong learners and global citizens of the 21st century, we must successfully integrate ICT into both the English language curriculum and English language teaching practice. ICT is a valuable tool for improving teaching and learning. For teachers, ICT is a professional resource: a way of teaching in the classroom, a source of valid and valuable text types. For students, this provides an opportunity to communicate more effectively and develop literacy skills, including critical literacy skills. It is a valuable tool for researching, compiling and answering, viewing and presenting in English. Some widely used ICT tools related to knowledge discovery and management include communication and collaboration systems such as group email, teleconferencing, videoconferencing, chat, IMO, forum, Listserv, groupware calendar, journal, common workflow management system. information spaces, group decision. support system. Similarly, document management systems, content management systems, Internet, search engine, computer and Google manager.Similarly, a teacher can integrate mobile phone, email, social networking sites, instant messengers, mobile apps, online dictionaries, radio, TV, cable TV, tabs, CDs, DVDs and other highly accessible data-driven subsystems in teaching language learning.
English Language Teaching (ELT) has undoubtedly undergone various changes over the years. The days of simple textbooks are a thing of the past as Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has been fully integrated into the curriculum. One might wonder how we got here and how effective this new way of learning English is ELT, like any form of education, depended heavily on rote learning. Repetition and mindless absorption of information has been the most common approach in learning a foreign language. However, memory retention has proven to be detrimental to this educational approach, and in many cases counterproductive. Memorizing hundreds of words meant nothing if the speaker couldn't use them correctly in a sentence. Thus, new teaching methods were needed to motivate students as well as properly educate them in the use of the language being taught. It could be said that class interaction used to be limited; the scholar "provided the information" and in many cases assessed the students' ability to retain it. The expression of ideas or the constructive development of acquired knowledge was never encouraged or even considered. As we all now know, being an active member of one's class is not only welcome, but considered a necessity. Communication, creativity, and critical thinking are keys not only to language acquisition, but also to our personal development as individuals. Freedom of expression in the classroom is an important component of learning as it inspires students to overcome their own limitations and strive to reach new heights both educationally and personally. Many times the freedom given to them by their scientists has inspired them not only to question what they are being taught, but to do research for more information than what was offered in class. Personal electronic devices take on the role of encyclopedias or dictionaries, and educational media content provides the extra stimulus needed to delve even deeper into the lessons learned. ICTs, if properly supported by both academics and schools, can make learning an enjoyable and definitely inspiring experience that will encourage young learners to surpass their own success not only in the classroom but also in their personal daily activities. In this beautiful age of technology and information, it would be a mistake to turn a blind eye to the tools that the modern age provides us with. The teacher must use them correctly and motivate his students not only to excel in their studies, but also to thrive as individuals in an ever-evolving society.
There are many challenges facing the education sector today. We live in a world where frequent changes occur in all sectors. The biggest example is the corona pandemic. Covid-19 has changed the whole world. Due to the lockdown, everyone is working from home online. Students, teachers, and everyone else is working hard to keep learning going. This pandemic has brought a new learning model that is available online for people. Today, from the moment we wake up in the morning to the moment we sleep, we are surrounded by media such as newspapers, radio, television and computers. Thus, in a changing society, it is very important to be tech-savvy and use information and communication tools. If we use and implement ICT in schools, our education system can flourish and the country will become a knowledge superpower. The three challenges that people face in using ICT tools are:
🔺Access
🔺Equity
🔺Quality
To have a complete understanding of the importance of ICT in education, it is necessary to know the importance of ICT. ICT stands for Information and Communication Technology. As the name suggests, these are tools that process information and produce, store, and distribute information. ICT includes both old and new tools. Old instruments include radio, television, telephone. New tools include computers, satellites, the Internet and wireless technologies. They exist in various forms such as audio, video, audiovisual and text. It refers to the latest technology and storage of simple audiovisual media such as slides, radios, cassettes and films. ICT is defined as “a diverse set of technologies, tools and resources used to transfer, create, distribute, store and manage information”. These technologies include computers, the Internet, radio, television, etc. It is defined as a different set of technological tools and resources that are used to transfer, create, distribute and manage information.Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is considered one of the main building blocks of modern society. . Today, in many countries, understanding ICT and mastering basic ICT skills and concepts is considered as part of mainstream education However, globalization has brought enormous changes to all aspects of human life, and education is no exception. The introduction of ICT in education can help create a new way of learning and teaching in a world where technology has turned it into a small village. Over the past two decades, the use of ICT has changed the practices and procedures of almost all forms of business and management. The use of ICT in education makes learning more student-centered. But as the world rapidly shifts to digital media and information, the role of ICT in education is becoming more and more important, and this importance will continue to grow and develop in the 21st century .At present, the use of ICT in the educational process is becoming very important. The teacher is expected to be both traditional and modern in teaching and learning. The teacher should be ready to include ICT in the educational process. In the 21st century, technology is interactive but still not used in language classes.Recently, the Internet has gained and continues to gain immense popularity in teaching a second/foreign language, and more and more teachers and students are confusing it. Thus, there is no doubt that ICTs have affected the quantity and quality of teaching and learning in traditional and distance learning institutions. Thus, ICT can enhance teaching and learning through its dynamic and interactive content and can provide real opportunities for individual learning. The advent of ICT is one of the remarkable gifts of modern science and technology that has brought enormous changes to library and information science. The application of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in library and information work has revolutionized the traditional concept of libraries from "book depository to intellectual information center" associated with the concept of a digital library. This opened a new chapter in library communication and facilitated global access to information across geographic boundaries. ICTs are increasingly being used in library and information services to receive, process and disseminate information. Libraries use ICT-based services to meet the diverse information needs of users. The use of ICTs is becoming increasingly important in special libraries as they shift to ICT-based resources and services at an accelerated pace. Using computers to run the library accordingly avoids jobs and saves a significant amount of time, resources and labor. It also speeds up technical processing and information services.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) first emerged in the mid-1980s and was defined as "All kinds of electronic systems used for broadcast telecommunications and mediated communications", with examples including personal computers, video games, cell phones, the Internet, and electronic devices . payment systems and computer software, etc. ICTs consist of computer and communication technologies. Computer technology is a tool for storing and processing information in digital form, and communication technology helps us transmit and distribute digital information. In addition, ICT means many technological applications in the process and transmission of information. The word ICT is a combination of two words information, communication. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) can be defined as the convergence of electronics, computing and telecommunications. This has triggered a tidal wave of technological innovations in the collection, storage, processing, transmission and presentation of information, which has not only turned the information technology sector itself into a very dynamic and expanding field of activity, creating new markets and attracting new investments. , income and jobs, but also provided other sectors with faster and more efficient mechanisms to respond to shifts in demand patterns and changes in international comparative advantage through more efficient production processes and new and improved products and services. Today, the definition of information and communication technology (ICT) is much broader and covers almost all types of business. From manufacturers, retailers, banks and publishers to research firms, medical institutions, law enforcement, government companies and libraries everywhere rely on information and communications technology workers to run their daily business. Dictionaries consistently define ICT tools: managing a network of computers, creating original web pages, producing digital videos, designing computer systems as a consultant, selling products on the Internet, 3D graphics, administering a company database, coding software, providing technical support , project and budget management, writing technical documentation.
The term information and communication technology (ICT) refers to forms of technology that are used to transmit, process, store, create, display, share or exchange information by electronic means. This broad definition of ICT includes technologies such as radio, television, video, DVD, telephone (both fixed and mobile phones), satellite systems, computer and network equipment and software, and equipment and services associated with these technologies. such as video conferencing, email and blogs (6). A UNESCO document posted online defined ICTs from a broader perspective, advocating their scope, importance and nature of use, with particular emphasis in the field of education: “Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are a diverse set of technological tools and resources used to communicate; and to create, distribute, store, and manage information. Communication and information are at the heart of the educational process, so the use of ICT in education has a long history. ICTs have played an educational role in formal and informal settings, in programs provided by government agencies, public and private educational institutions, for business corporations and non-profit groups, and secular and religious communities. ICT includes the use of computer technology, including hardware, peripherals, media, delivery systems and software. The term is used in the ISTE NETS standards and is used by UNESCO regarding the integration of technology into the learning process. However, information and communication technologies (ICTs) are a common element throughout our lives and play a central role in education. Since the introduction of the first public policy on the use of ICT in education in 1997, significant investment has been made in ICT facilities and teaching in Irish schools. In many countries, the discussion of ICTs in education has focused on the potential impact of ICTs on teaching and learning, and on the steps that need to be taken to ensure that the potential of ICTs to enrich the learning experience of students is realized.
ICT covers both the Internet access and the mobile sphere based on wireless networks. It also includes legacy technologies such as landlines, radio and television broadcasting, which are still widely used along with advanced ICT elements such as artificial intelligence and robotics.ICT is sometimes used as a synonym for IT (for information technology); however, ICT is generally used to represent a broader and more complete list of all components related to computers and digital technologies than IT.The list of ICT components is exhaustive and growing. Some components, such as computers and phones, have been around for decades. Others, such as smartphones, digital TVs, and robots, are more recent. However, ICT usually
means more than a list of components. It also includes the application of all these different components. This is where the real potential, power and danger of ICTs can be found.

ICTs are used for economic, social and interpersonal transactions and interactions. ICT has fundamentally changed the way people work, communicate, learn and live. Moreover, ICTs continue to revolutionize every part of the human experience as early computers and now robots perform many of the tasks that were once performed by humans. For example, computers used to answer calls and route calls to the right people; robots can now not only answer calls, but can often process caller requests for services more quickly and efficiently.

The importance of ICT for economic development and business growth is so great that it is credited with starting what many call the Fourth Industrial Revolution.ICTs are also at the heart of broad societal shifts as people move en masse from face-to-face communication to digital communication. This new era is often referred to as the digital age. However, for all its revolutionary aspects, ICT opportunities are unevenly distributed. Simply put, richer countries and richer people have greater access and therefore more opportunities to take advantage of the benefits and opportunities provided by ICTs.The education sector is the only way to create positivity in society. People are using ICT in the wrong way. The education sector can play a vital role in protecting our society from the misuse of ICTs. The importance of ICT in education for modern society is much higher.A person builds his life from the school stage. Therefore, it is our duty to teach them how to better use the Internet and other tools. The importance of ICT in education is much higher.
Students are aware of the outside world due to the addition of ICTs to education. Nowadays, everything is computerized. Therefore, it is important to teach our students how to work with a computer.Importance of ICT in education Especially in developing countries, ICT helps their students to compete with the developing world. If you want to develop like the US, UK, etc., then you must give importance to your ICT sector. And adding an ICT book to the curriculum will help students learn and learn about technology.
Everything has two sides, right and wrong. We have to get the right one. People misuse technology. Therefore, it is important to protect our younger generation from the misuse of ICTs. And if we can teach them how to use it properly, we can save our young society. Because adding this subject to the curriculum will lead them to the proper use of technology.Role of ICT in the Enhancement of English Language Skills among the Learners. The Role of ICT in Developing English Language Skills Among Students. English is one of the most important languages playing a role in the process of globalization and information explosion. It is the most common communication tool all over the world. That is why it is called Link language, Global language and Lingua Franca. In the context of India, it is considered ESL (English as a Second Language). The use of the English language has become vital for better learning and earnings. For this reason, it is necessary to teach English and improve English language skills among school-level students. Government, NGOs and educational institutions are working at various levels and are taking measures to improve English Language Teaching and English language skills among students. In our country, various approaches and methods are used to teach English and improve English language skills. But most of them are traditional, less interesting, ineffective, and less motivating. Therefore, it is necessary to use modern ICT (Information and Communication Technology) approaches and tools for a better understanding and acquisition of key skills of the English language such as LSRW (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) among school-level students. ICT has a lot to offer both teachers and students to improve their vocabulary and improve their English language skills. Today, ICT tools and approaches are widely used because of their convenience, ubiquity, effectiveness, and affordability. Some of these approaches, facilities and tools are CAI (Computer Assisted Learning), email capability, Digital libraries, multimedia, mobile learning, free and open source software and social media, MOOCs, Virtual classrooms, documentaries, Digital storytelling, Mobile Apps, i-pads, Digital Laptops, Tablets, Smartphones, Recorded audio video materials, Online oral tutorials, Digital pronunciation dictionaries etc. Modern studies and research show the positive results of ICT integration in the field of English language skills development and English Language Teaching.
These facilities paved the way for individualized learning and provided the freedom to learn anytime, anywhere according to students' needs and convenience. Therefore, we must take the appropriate step to integrate ICT into the ELT field to ensure that students are well versed in English language skills. The modern age is called the age of information explosion. This explosion was made possible by the development of science and technology. With the influence of science and technology, every aspect of human life has changed. In the field of communication of science and technology The use of 3 has revolutionized the world. The use of modern technological tools has led to the rise of ICT (Information and Communication technology). Now ICT is used in many fields such as health, entertainment, games and sports, transportation, education, industries, fashion design, textiles. agriculture etc. Thanks to the use of ICT, we can receive and give a lot of information about the world with a single click. The field of education has not been touched by ICT. We can no longer imagine education without the use of Information and Communication Technologies. It facilitated the exchange of thoughts, ideas, experiences and emotions. With the help of ICT, many people can simultaneously receive education and training at low cost. Now ICT is used in all areas of education. The use of computers, internet, television, radio, projectors and mobile phones, e-mail facility, online audio and video conferencing, as well as new applications have made the Teaching Learning Process and Training attractive and useful.
