For expenditures on R&D there are only 246 observations that is the least amount of observations among other 

main variables. Compared to the total sample size, very few firms declared the information about their spending 

on R&D mainly because the respondents did not know the information. Minimum amount spent on R&D is as 

small as 10 RUR whereas the maximum is 74 million RUR. The mean value is about 3.43 million RUR and the 

standard deviation is 8.4 million RUR which means our distribution is wide-spread. 

Lastly, the minimum years of experience a top manager has is one year while there are managers with 60 years 

of working experience. Once, that is a really bid number for the years of experience but in some family owned 

businesses that is more than possible. The average years of experience is about 14 years and the standard 

deviation is 9,34. Therefore, the data mainly between 1 and 25 years.
