A diphthong is a more complex vowel sound. Diphthongs begin with one vowel sound and change to another vowel sound in the same syllable. Your mouth position changes slightly through the vowel sound. They are: [ei]; [ai]; [oi]; [au]; [ou]; [iə]; [uə]; [εə];

Example: [eim]; [taim]; [koin]; [taun]; [bout]; [hiə]; [ [kεə];

Task 1. Select these words into two groups:monophthongs and diphthongs:
