Kashkadarya region

Kashkadarya region is a region of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It was founded on November 1, 1924. In the south-west of the republic, in the Kashkadarya basin, on the western edge of the Pamir-Olay mountain system, between the Amudarya and Zarafshan rivers, between the Gissar and Zarafshan ridges. It is bordered by Bukhara to the northwest, Surkhandarya to the southeast, Turkmenistan to the southwest and west, Tajikistan and Samarkand to the east. The area is 28.6 thousand km². Population 3225, 8 thousand people (3rd place) (2020). It includes 13 districts (Dehkanabad, Kasbi, Kitab, Kasan, Mirishkor, Muborak, Nishan, Chirakchi, Shahrisabz, Yakkabag, Kamashi, Karshi, Guzar), 12 cities (Beshkent, Kitab, Kasan, Muborak, Tallimarjon, Chirakchi, Shahrisabz, Yakkabog, Yangi Nishan, Kamashi, Karshi, Guzar), 4 towns (Yangi Mirishkor, Dehkanabad, Miraki, Eski Yakkabog, Pomuq), 147 villages, 1064 villages (2005).
