At the Hairdresser’s
-Good morning. Would you sit here, please. What would you like to have done?
-I think I’d like to have my hair trimmed and than a shampoo and set.
-We’ll wash your hair first, madam. Could I help you to put on this cape?
- Shall I learn over?
-Please. Would you like a colour rinse, madam, or a tint.
-No thank you, just a shampoo.
-I’ll just dry your hair slightly before cutting it. How short would you like it?
-I’d prefer just to have the ends tidied up.I had my hair styled here only a fortnight ago.
-How would you like to have it set, madam?
-I don’t want it to look curly. I’d prefer it smooth and just curled under at the ends. And I’d like the fringe brushed slightly of my face.
-Do you want a parting, madam?
-No.
-I won’t put in too many rollers. Could you hold this box of rollers on your knee, please?
-Shall I pass them as you need them?
-Please. Could you come this way to the drier, please? You’ll only need to be under the drier a few minutes as your hair is short.
(Some minutes later)
…It’s dry now. If you come back to your chair, I’ll take out the rollers and brush out your hair, Is this how you would like it?
-Please.
-Would you like me to put a hair pin here just to hold back the fringe a little?
-Please.
- Would you like a spray lacquer, madam?
-Just a little.
- There. It is finished. Could you take this to the desk and pay there.

At the dry- cleaner’s
-Could I have this suit cleaned, and this raincoat, please?
-Would you like the raincoat reproofed? We usually recommend it.

-5000 sums.
-Yes, I’ll have done it. And could I have this dress dyed green? It has faded.
-It will have to be dark green, or the colour won’t take.
-All right. I also need the turn-ups on these trousers turned: they are getting frayed already.

-When will they be ready?
- the raincoat and the suit will be ready in two days, but the other things will take longer. Call in in about a week and we’ll see if we can have them ready by then.
