Inviting for a cup of coffee by phone
***
Mrs Roberts: Hello, Mrs Roberts speaking.
Mrs White: Is that you Mary? This is Helen White. I’ve tried to ring
you several times but you were always out or engaged.
How are you?
Mrs Roberts: Oh, I’m fine, thank you. And how are you?
Mrs White: I’m fine too, now. But I’ve been laid up with flu for over
a week.
Mrs Roberts: I’m sorry to hear that. How are you feeling now?
Mrs White: Fit as a fiddle, I’m pleased to say. How about coming
round some time next week? Could you manage
Wednesday next week at about 9 for coffee?
Mrs Roberts: Well, as far as I know we’re free that evening but
I must check with Henry and then let you know.
Thank you.
Mrs White: Then it’s settled. You’ll ask Henry and give me a ring
about Wednesday week. We’ll be looking forward to
seeing you. Good- bye.
Mrs Roberts: Good-bye, Helen, and thanks so much for ringing.
