2. Pre – activity

Activity 1 a Read, listen and say what the conversation is about.

Objective: to practise reading for gist

PP read the conversation and say what it is about

Activity 1 b Answer the questions.

Objectives: to practise inferring the Past Perfect from context Tell PP that they are going to learn a new grammar structure. Tell them that questions 2-5 will help them to make the rules themselves.

If it is difficult for PP to answer the questions in English, they can do it in their mother tongue.
