The Social Class Registration/2017-2018
Thank you for your interest in The Social Class! It has been a very exciting time as I plan for my 6th year of teaching lessons on character, confidence, manners and dance to the young people of Marietta and Cobb County! Each year has brought additional students and new challenges my way. In order to deliver the best possible product and to protect my time with my family, I have stayed true to my original mission of teaching classes to middle school students only one weekend per month. Though there are greater opportunities for growth, at this time I still feel called and committed to teaching and reaching as many students as possible within those time constraints. These limitations have caused me to think outside the box each year to tweak my registration process, class offerings and class times. Below you will find some new and important information about registration! Please read this email in its entirety!

Class Costs:
6th Grade Class: $225
7th and 8th Grade Classes: $325
Registering Multiple Children?: If you have multiple children registering for TSC, the first child will be full price and the additional child(ren) will receive a $50 discount. Please make sure and select the correct cost when registering your additional child(ren). If you are one of our Silent Auction winners, please make sure and select that option at check-out and you will be able to check out for free!
Classes Offered/Time Slots for 2017-2018:
6th Grade: 1 class of students, Saturday evenings, 8:00pm-9:30pm, January-April; see dates below
7th Grade: 2 classes of students (***See important details below!***), Friday evenings, 6:00pm-7:30pm and 8:00pm-9:30pm, September-April, see dates below
8th Grade: 1 class of students , Saturday evenings, 6:00pm-7:30pm, September-April, see dates below
IMPORTANT Additional Information For the 7th Grade Classes:
Class ATimes: 6:00pm-7:30pm
Class B Times: 8:00pm-9:30pm
Important: ***Both classes are open to any students from any schools, however, in an attempt to simplify this process, divide this large group of students in half and ensure your children can attend class with their peers, I am going to make the following general recommendations:
*Students from Marietta City Schools, The Walker School and Eastside Christian: register for Class A, 6:00pm-7:30pm
*Students from Mount Paran Christian and Cobb County Schools: register for Class B, 8:00pm-9:30pm
***If your child doesn't fit into one of these larger buckets, please feel free to register them in whichever class they would most identify with. Once a class is full, there will be no additional slots open even if your child attends the recommended school for that slot. They are welcome to register for the alternate time slot if there is an opening.
I will also make every effort to allow students attend the opposite slot if they have a conflict that month and the alternate time works.
Dates:
After reviewing the Cobb County, Marietta City, MPCS and The Walker School 2017-2108 calendars, I believe I was able to select weekends that do not conflict with any holidays or breaks for these 4 major school calendars. The weekends selected for 2017-2018 are:

Friday and Saturday, December 8-9, 2017 (The Peppermint Twist Dance for 7th and 8th Grade)

Friday and Saturday, March 16-17, 2018
Friday and Saturday, April 20-21, 2018 (The Social Affair Dance for 7th and 8th Grade)
Tuesday, April 24, 2018 (Dinner at the Marietta Country Club for 6th Grade)
When does TSC Registration open???
Existing families: Registration will open on Thursday, March 2nd for families that currently have students enrolled in TSC. They will be able to re-enroll their current child and also enroll any new child in a class. The registration links will be emailed to current families.
New families: All remaining slots will then open up to families that do not currently have a student enrolled in TSC. They will be able to access the registration links via The Social Class website, www.thesocialclass.net on Thursday evening, March 9th .
***In an effort to simplify the process for families wishing to register more than one child in different grades, the registration links will be added to this page at the following times on Thursday, March 9th:
6th grade boy and girl links will be available at 7:00pm
7th grade boy and girl links will be available at 8:00pm
8th grade boy and girl links will be available at 9:00pm
The registration links will load promptly and spots will be available on a first come, first served basis. Over the last few years, classes have filled up very quickly (within a matter of minutes) so I recommend you be ready to register and have your credit/debit or PayPal information handy. Once the classes are full, they will close automatically.
***Important:*** There will be multiple registration links that will specify: the grade, the time slot and the gender you are registering for....please make sure and select the correct link. (i.e. 8th grade/Class A/Boy). You will have to select the correct link and fill out a separate registration form for each of your children.***
Is there a waiting list? YES!
Each class has a pre-determined number of boy and girl slots available. Due to space constraints, I have set class sizes to maximum capacity. If a class closes before you are able to register your child, please go back to the Registration Link of TSC webpage (www.thesocialclass.net) and submit your child's name on the Sign-Up Genius waiting list. I will then fill in relinquished spots in the order of when the name was received.
Registration Partners: At this time, you do not need to secure a registration partner for your child. The first 3 years of TSC, I required that each student register with a partner of the opposite gender, in order to balance the class of boys and girls and ensure equal numbers for dance partners. My students and parents have been so kind to spread the word about TSC, which has allowed us to fill our slots without the need of registration partners. There will be a limited number of boy and girl slots for each class, and my hope is that this year (with your help!) all of these slots will fill up. Please continue to spread the word about TSC to your friends with sons and daughters!!! We might have to revamp this process and got back to registration partners if things get lopsided.
