THE ROLE OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN ENSURING MUTUAL SOLIDARITY,
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND HUMAN RIGHTS
IN GLOBALIZATIONS
The impact of globalization on young people. In the last fifteen years, the word "globalization" has become frequently utilized. It is a contentious phrase that has been defined in a variety of ways. Globalization suggests that the world is more linked today than it was previously. According to them, globalization has had unfavorable effects on society, threatening its tranquility. Another set of individuals, on the other side, sees globalization as a beneficial phenomena that has made the globe more connected and informed than ever before. They see it as a fresh source of hope in the world. It is apparent that this group sees a variety of benefits from globalization.
According to Jan Aart Scholte, who describes both points of view, “some people have connected “globalization” with development, wealth, and peace”.
Others, on the other hand, associate the term with deprivation, calamity, and gloom. Scholte is a Professorial Research Fellow at the Centre for Globalization and Regionalization Studies.
Having said that, it is clear that the influence of globalization on education has been both beneficial and harmful.
The following are some aspects that demonstrate the good and bad effects of globalization on education.
- Globalization has fundamentally altered the globe in every way. However, it has had a particularly significant impact on the global economy, which has grown increasingly interconnected and interdependent. However, it also made the global economy more competitive and knowledge-based, particularly in rich Western countries.
- Global education links teaching approaches from around the world in order to stimulate international development of environmental sustainability and contribute to reinforcing global enterprises. These educational programs stress worldwide access to school from elementary to university levels, implementing learning experiences that prepare students for transnational leadership roles.
- Because education is the cornerstone of global stability, developing intercultural awareness at a young age may allow for the integration of beliefs from many civilizations in order to reach well-balanced conclusions about global challenges. Globalization and education therefore interact by sharing the common objective of educating young people for prosperous futures in which their nations will become increasingly interconnected.
- Some of the problems for knowledge, education, and learning will offer today's learners with the capacity to be more familiar and comfortable with abstract concepts and unpredictable situations as a result of globalization.
- A complete grasp of systems thinking, encompassing the world system and corporate eco-system, is required for the information society and global economy. Globalization approaches challenges from many angles. Interdisciplinary research methodologies are viewed as vital to developing a more thorough grasp of the complicated reality that the world system is currently confronted with.
- It improves the capacity of the pupil to manipulate symbols. In today's economy, highly productive job will necessitate the learner's ongoing manipulation of symbols such as political, legal, and financial terminology, as well as digital money.
- Globalization improves students' capacity to learn and apply information. Globalization improves learners' capacity to access, evaluate, adopt, and apply knowledge, to think independently in order to exercise appropriate judgment, and to interact with others in order to make sense of unfamiliar situations.
- As a result of globalization, there is a rise in the number of people who are scientifically and technically skilled. The rising economy is built on knowledge as a major element of production, and companies want people to be well-versed in science and technology.
- It encourages pupils to collaborate in groups. Employees must be able to collaborate closely in groups. Working in groups necessitates the development of abilities in group dynamics, compromise, discussion, persuasion, organization, and leadership and management.
- Globalization blurs the distinctions between location and time. A new system of knowledge, education, and learning should use sophisticated information and communication technology to implement a wide range of synchronous and asynchronous activities that assist instructor and student in breaking down barriers of location and time.
- Globalization meets the Information Age's knowledge, education, and learning problems and possibilities. Graduates' ability to learn new skills and integrate new knowledge is frequently criticized by knowledge-based enterprises. Businesses benefit from globalization.
- Globalization fosters and supports information technologists, policymakers, and practitioners in their efforts to rethink education, as well as platforms for exchanging ideas and experiences in the use of educational technology.
- Globalization fosters inquiry and experimentation in order to push the boundaries of the potential of information technology and communications for more effective learning.
- Global exchange of information, skills, and intellectual assets required for numerous levels of growth.
- Mutual assistance, supplementation, and benefit in order to create synergy for diverse advances of countries, communities, and individuals.
- Creating values and increasing efficiency through the above-mentioned global sharing and mutual support for local requirements and progress.
- Fostering cross-national understanding, collaboration, peace, and acceptance of cultural variety.
- Facilitating cross-national conversations and exchanges, as well as supporting multi-cultural contributions at all levels.
- A possible drawback of globalization in education is the widening of technology gaps and digital inequalities between industrialized and developing nations.
- Education globalization may result in more justifiable chances for a few advanced nations to engage in a new type of colonialism of underdeveloped countries.
As a result, the difficulty is to recognize young people's complicated connection with, and comprehension of, globalization. To do so, policymakers must first grasp how global social, economic, and cultural factors affect communities at the local level. This necessitates policymakers and practitioners paying closer attention to the link between globalization and identity and a feeling of belonging, as well as the ramifications of this relationship for national policies and programs. Furthermore, in order for young people to make sense of the complicated nature of the world around them, they need chances to learn, interact, and understand how the global influences them. As previously said, there is evidence that young people are not only passive beneficiaries of global consumerism, but astutely re-create in their image their own version of a global theme or trend, frequently through locally formed identities.
