To tap (v.)
Definition(s): to strike lightly especially with a slight sound


Example(s): I tapped my friend on the shoulder to ask her if I could borrow her pen.


Hush (n.)
Definition(s): a silence or calm especially following noise


Example(s): A hush fell over the class after they realized their teacher had stopped talking and had not been talking for at least five minutes.


To disengage (v.)
Definition(s): to release or detach oneself


Example(s): The man disengaged himself from the fistfight and ran away!


To grin (v.)
Definition(s): to smile broadly


Example(s): The parents grinned at their son who had just done something cute.


Firm (adj.)/firmly (adv.)
