2.2 Reality of the noosphere
Every more or less educated person of our time, no matter what his activity environment, heard this somewhat mysterious and enticing word with some deepest meanings and hope: the noosphere. It is recognized by a broad consciousness as a special novelty of the twentieth century, perhaps the same as for the public of the last century was the theory of evolution. The noosphere for the second half of our century is often the same wise and misty celebrity, causing some trepidation, as for the first half was the theory of relativity.
The essence of the ideas of Le Roy and T. de Chardin was that evolution in man produced a fundamentally new tool for its further development, prepared by a long process of improving the nervous system; it is a special spiritual and psychological ability that did not exist in nature before: a mind of a reflective type, with self-consciousness, the ability to deeply know oneself and the world.
What is the actual content of the processes in the “region of the planet covered by intelligent human activity? The formation of the noosphere and the occurrence of crisis situations that threaten the very existence of the human race is one and the same process. The noosphere as a reality is an artificial environment that suppresses and suppresses the area of ​​biological being. The formation of an artificial environment has opened up unprecedented opportunities for people to increase material security, comfort and safety, raised cultural development, but it also leads to water and air pollution, soil desertification, and general degradation of the natural habitat. According to the consequences for a person, an excessive growth of an artificial phenomenon turns out to be highly controversial, with unclear prospects.
The content of the mind must be something that when embodied, gives the instrument. Since the contents of the mind are terms and their relations, it can be said: tools are nothing but materialized terms, and therefore constant parallels can be seen between the laws of thinking and technological advances. It is not by chance that we narrow the need for renewal of worldview, ideology, psychology to the need for “new thinking”. Spirituality has begun to be called mentality, culture is censicized. Therefore, we have to admit that the true denotation of the noosphere is artificial reality, which forms a factor in which, in the broad sense of the word, technology. The main global contradiction, between natural and artificial, between the universe of nature and the universe of activity. It existed since the advent of mankind,currently exacerbated to a critical state.
The world is full of forcing various threats to man as a biological species. We will not increment them. All of them are summarized in the possibility of violation of the ecological balance of the planet, after which irreversible chaotic processes begin. The most likely trigger factor may be the depletion of the ozone layer of the atmosphere. The amount of fluorinated hydrocarbons in it continues to increase, threatening the health of all life on earth, including plants. As if in response to this and other threats, people are already trying to “protect themselves” from the environment where they are supposed to live: artificial climate installations, air conditioners, ionizers and other cleaners, right up to gas masks, come into being. Bringing such tendencies to a logical end means the closure of a person in his apartment or workroom, as in the cabin of a spacecraft.The street he runs across as enemy territory.
Noosphere as harmony is an analogue of the political utopia of communism and other, more vulnerable dreams of paradise. In accordance with the spirit of the times, it relies on science. This is how it should be treated, although it makes no sense to speak out against hopes and utopias. They are useful to the extent that, by softening the tragic realities, they help to live. When utopia interferes with a sober look at things, then it can become more dangerous than what it saves from. We need realistic hopes, functional utopias, hopes that the long-term joint development of the biosphere and the noosphere is possible, at which the rate of transformation of the environment will be no higher than the speed of our adaptation to it. For these hopes, we must fight, as they are the condition for the survival of humanity.
