A starting salary of approximately $44,420.66 annual.
Applicants must be 21 years of age at such time as they file their application. Applicants shall be under 35 years of age, at the time of application and at time of final eligibility list posting, unless exempt from such age limitation as provided in Section 5/10-2.1-6 of the Fire and Police Commissioner's Act.
Must obtain Firefighter II training within his/her 12-month probationary period.
Must obtain paramedic license within 24 months of initial appointment.
Any person who is appointed as a member of the fire department shall establish residency within the State of Illinois, and within fifteen-mile radius of City Hall, 915 16th Avenue, East Moline, IL, within a period of 2 years from and after the date of his/her commencement of employment with the City.
Works 24-hour shifts equal to a 52.5-hour week.

Responds to fire calls and other emergencies, which threaten life and property.
Must physically participate in fire suppression work and other emergency rescue activities.
Must be able to drive emergency vehicles in the Fire Department, including rescue boat with proper license.
Must be able to operate a wide range of equipment: extrication equipment, SCBA, ventilation tools, hoses, nozzles, ladders, and fire pumps, etc.
Must be familiar with hydraulics and the City water system, including fire hydrants.
Participates in training on a regular basis regarding various topics and equipment.
Participates in routine station cleaning, maintenance, and inspections.
Assists the Fire Inspector in fire cause and origin investigations, as well as, fire prevention and education.
Must have a thorough knowledge of addresses in the areas in which the East Moline Fire Department responds.
Hiring Procedure:
1. You must have a written statement from a qualified physician stating that you are physically fit to take the CPAT. (Candidate Physical Agility Test)
2. CPAT – (Candidate Physical Agility Test) Applicant must pass all stations of the agility test in 10 minutes and 20 seconds and Illinois ladder Climb
3. WRITTEN EXAMINATION - The written examination will be given only to persons who have passed the CPAT or have proof of CAPT Certification.
4. ORAL EXAMINATION - The oral examination will be given to persons who have passed the CPAT or are certified and have passed the written examinations.
5. A thorough BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION will be performed including POLYGRAPH.
This notice is to inform you that there will be a Mandatory Orientation for the closed CPAT on Saturday, September 29, 2015, at 8:00 a.m. at the QCCA Expo Center, 2621 4th Avenue, Rock Island, Illinois. A current ID will be required to participate.
This is a closed CPAT through a joint effort with Rock Island and East Moline Fire Departments. Candidates are required to participate in the schedule of orientations, practice runs and final testing to proceed in the application process. CPAT Candidate Orientation Schedule

You may attend any of the practice sessions scheduled below or sign waiver to be excused. It is possible to pass one of the practice runs prior to the final October 24, 2015 final testing.
CPAT Orientation Dates: 900 A.M.-August 29 and September 12,
Testing Dates: Time: 8:00 on September 26, October 10 and October 24,
CPAT success is measured on a pass/fail basis. You will be deemed ineligible to apply for the entry-level firefighter exam if you fail to successfully complete the CPAT and the Ladder Climb test.
No one will be allowed to take the CPAT that has not turned in all of his or her application
All materials must be turned in by the August 21st application deadline.
